Acting director of the National Hurricane Center Jamie Rhome said Wednesday that Georgia and South Carolina should be prepared for the possibility of storm surge after hurricane Ian passes over Florida. He said that the storm would weaken as it crosses, then turn north towards the two southeastern U.S. states. He also advised people in parts of Florida that could be most impacted should prepare to stay indoors for several days, warning venturing out too soon could put people’s lives at risk from flooding or downed power lines.
