Nova Scotia’s Minister responsible for the Emergency Management Office, John Lohr, spoke Thursday about the upcoming arrival of Hurricane Fiona, which he said is expected to be a “historical weather event” for the province, and provided various safety advice for residents. He urged people to stay home from the storm, secure outdoor items, have a 72-hour emergency kit ready, and keep away from areas in their homes that could be hit by debris. He also asked people to check in on their neighbours.
