A Saskatoon mother, Jana Nyland, spoke out on Monday against the alleged racial abuse her son suffered while in childcare. When Nyland attended Bajwa Daycare to pick up her son Lennon on Sept 10, she discovered her son had his first haircut without her permission. Nyland said her family is Metis and to them, hair has spiritual and cultural significance. She removed her son from Bajwa Childcare immediately after the incident and has filed a report with the Saskatoon Police Service, alleging the hate crime of cutting her son’s hair with racist and discriminatory intent.
