Former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney said Monday, during a ceremony at Christ Church Cathedral in Ottawa, that the monarchy and Queen Elizabeth II’s position as Canada’s head of state played an “indispensable” part in Canada’s achievements on the world stage, and in bringing about “peace and prosperity” at home and abroad.
