As MPs paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II in the House of Commons in the wake of her death, Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet reflected on what he says was a “thorny and cruel” relationship between the Crown and Quebec. After offering his condolences “to anyone who is grieving the death of Queen Elizabeth II,” Blanchet said his part would lead immediately leave after a moment of silence and not participate in the rest of the commemoration of the queen.
