Geneviève Dumas, the general manager of Ottawa’s Chateau Laurier hotel said on Tuesday that members of the public who have taken photos at the hotel with Sir Winston Churchill portrait between Dec. 25, 2021 and Jan. 6, 2022 are asked to provide them to help with the process of recovering the portrait. The portrait was apparently swapped sometime between these dates and the hotel noticed on Friday that the frame wasn’t hanging properly, only to discover the artwork in their possession to be a fake. The authentic Churchill portrait is believed to have been nabbed between the above dates.
