Survivors and their families have had some time to consider the Pope’s historic “pilgrimage of penance” and his apology to those who endured residential schools. Many of them were left unsatisfied by what they heard and wanted more concrete action from the head of the Catholic Church. But as Global’s Phil Carpenter reports, others say there was more than meets the eye, and what they received was helpful for their healing.
