Pope Francis spoke about the meaning to reconciliation on Monday during his visit to Edmonton, Alta., saying he could not imagine the effort it takes those who suffered “so greatly” because of men and women who “should have set an example of Christian living.” He appeared to criticize some who follow Christianity, saying “one cannot proclaim God in a way contrary to God himself,” and said those who supported residential schools were “more about their own prejudice than Christianity.”
