Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly announced on Wednesday that Canada would be opening new embassies in Lithuania, Estonia and Armenia, and Slovakia, and appoint ambassadors in these four countries. She said they would also be reinforcing its presence in Latvia amid the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine. She said it was part of Canada’s efforts to increase its diplomatic presence along Europe’s eastern flank.
