NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Monday, ahead of the summit in Madrid, that the alliance would increase its high-readiness response force to “well over” 300,000 troops. Stoltenberg said NATO would also increase its stockpiles of military supplies, add more pre-positioned equipment, and strengthen command and control capabilities in what he called “the biggest overhaul of collective defence and deterrence since the Cold War”
