A five-year-old boy died on Monday after he was left strapped into his car seat while his mother and sister left the vehicle to prepare for the girl’s birthday party. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales said the boy had known how to “apparently unbuckle” himself in the past, but it wasn’t until about two or three hours after leaving the car that the mother could not find the boy. When she found him, 911 was called and emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.
