NDP MP Laurel Collins called for an expansion of the Liberal government’s recent single-use plastics ban during question period on Monday, saying that it doesn’t cover enough plastics to make an impact. The Liberals rolled out the plan earlier in the day, which will see the manufacturing and import of checkout bags, stir sticks, cutlery, styrofoam containers, ring containers and straws banned by the end of the year, with a prohibition on their sales a year later.
