Luwam Ogbaselassie, the niece of Amaresh Tesfamariam who died in hospital from her injuries sustained in the Toronto van attack of 2018, said the past four years since the tragedy have been “torture,” and were looking forward to “this being behind us.” Tesfamariam died in November 2021. She also spoke about support her aunt received, including the “Toronto Strong” movement that was spurred by the tragedy, as well as those in hospital who tended to Tesfamariam until she died.
