‘We will never water down our measures on gun control’ in Bill C-21, Freeland says

Speaking during question period in the House of Commons on Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland responded to a question by Conservative MP John Brassard on whether the Liberals would consider splitting Bill C-21 into two bills, with provisions to protect domestic violence victims and address gun control separately. Freeland defended the bill as it stands and said that “what protects Canadians” is banning military-style assault weapons and limiting legal access to handguns.
