Lucretia Hughes, a conservative activist for the right-wing group Turning Point USA, testified before Congress on Wednesday amid calls for action on gun laws following mass shootings in Uvalde, Texas, and Buffalo, N.Y. Hughes, whose son was killed in 2016 by a convicted felon with an illegally obtained firearm, argued against gun control laws, described them as “steeped in racism,” and said those advocating for them are “delusional.”
