Asked about the Chinese fighter jets “buzzing” Canadian planes over international waters, Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly said on Friday the government is “preoccupied” with this, adding Canada is doing surveillance work in the “context of a UN mission.” She said since China is part of the UN Security Council, Canada expects them to “respect our work.”
