B.C. Wildfire Service official Matt MacDonald on Friday provided an outlook on the upcoming wildfire season, saying that as of this week, the province is expecting to see a slow beginning in June. However, he cautioned as the province trends to warmer than normal temperatures there could be fire growth in the latter half of the summer. But he added more than half of fire ignitions come from lightning and a “big factor” will be if that it is accompanied by rain, but it’s difficult to forecast.
