At a White House press briefing on Friday, press secretary Jen Psaki said that images showing Israeli police officers charging at mourners carrying the coffin of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh outside her funeral in Jerusalem were “deeply disturbing.” Psaki told reporters that U.S. officials will remain in close contact with both Israeli and Palestinian authorities in the aftermath of Abu Akleh’s killing.
