U.S. President Joe Biden announced at the White House on Thursday that he had signed a request to Congress for new security and economic assistance to Ukraine. In addition to the supplemental funding, Biden is also submitting a comprehensive package to enhance efforts to seize and repurpose the assets of Russian oligarchs to aid Ukraine in its defence against Russia’s invasion. “We’re going to seize their yachts, their luxury homes, and other ill-begotten gains,” said Biden.
