A sense of some much-needed stability in Europe tonight, at least on the leadership front. Emmanuel Macron is set to be re-elected as the president of France. Exit polls show he won almost 59 per cent of the run-off vote on Sunday with his opponent Marine Le Pen getting just over 41 per cent. The margin of victory is half that of the 2017 election, which was contested between the two same candidates. The second term for Macron spares France and its allies from a wartime shift of power.
