Russia is outlining new military objectives which could effectively land-lock Ukraine. The announcement comes after Russia claims it defeated Ukrainian forces in Mariupol, although shelling continues there. One hundred twenty thousand residents there are still trapped. Outside the war zone, the UN says there is mounting evidence of war crimes, mass graves, and an attempted cover-up. But first a look at Russia’s ambitions after failing to take control of Kyiv and why experts say it will be hard for President Vladimir Putin to succeed.
