The Cobourg Police Service held a Cram-A-Cruiser event at the Metro grocery store at Northumberland Mall on Saturday.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. police were at the front entrance letting customers know what is needed for the Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank.
Fare Share board member Denis Culver says the community support has been fantastic.
Saturday’s event collected 3,162 pounds of food, $4,068.28 in cash and $175 in gift cards, as of a tally announced Saturday evening.
Police plan to continue these events monthly to help the food bank.
