Disruptive U.S. winter storm leaves many powerless in freezing conditions

From Texas all the way to New England, a vicious winter storm is wreaking havoc across the United States. Heavy snow and fierce winds have closed highways, cancelled flights, and knocked out power for hundreds of thousands of people.
