Conservative interim leader Candice Bergen calls on Liberals to extend ‘olive branch’ to trucker protesters

Official opposition interim leader Candice Bergen called on the Liberal government to extend an “olive branch” to truckers protesting COVID-19 vaccine mandates in Ottawa during Thursday’s question period. Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland insisted on the government’s position to condemn hateful symbols raised during the protest and referred to the effect of Confederate flags on Black Canadians, which was described by Bergen as “classic gaslighting.”
