During Monday’s council meeting Coun. Stephen Wright sought a $10,000 donation for the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, which is part of a group mounting a legal challenge to Quebec’s Bill 21, which prohibits public service employees from wearing religious symbols at work. Peterborough council ultimately voted to defer $10,000 to the city’s diversity fund rather than make a donation. Wright joined Global News Morning Peterborough to talk about his motion, and why it was important to him.
