World Health Organization director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Monday that it would be “dangerous” to assume the Omicron COVID-19 variant could be the last to emerge and that the world was in an “end game” scenario of the pandemic. But he did say it was possible this year to exit the acute phase of the pandemic, if tools like testing and vaccines are used comprehensively.
