As hospitalization increases in British Columbia due to COVID-19, Dr. Bonnie Henry says the province will change the way it presents those numbers to reflect the true impact of the fifth wave on the health-care system. In a briefing on Jan. 14, 2022, the provincial health officer said numbers presented by the province will now include those who incidentally discovered they have the virus, those who contracted the virus within hospital walls, and people from outside of B.C. who are in B.C. hospitals.
