COVID-19: Bearskin Lake leader says feds had ‘dismissive attitude’ following pleas for assistance

Charles Fox, former Grand Chief of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation and resident of Bearskin Lake recounts a call he had with federal Indigenous Services Minister Patty Hajdu when they reached out for federal assistance after the northern Ontario First Nation community declared a state of emergency due to a COVID-19 outbreak on Dec. 28. Fox said Hajdu had a “dismissive attitude” when he spoke to her about receiving help for the community.
