Omicron COVID-19 variant can partially evade protection from Pfizer vaccine, South African study finds

The Omicron COVID-19 variant can partially evade protection from two doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, according to new research from the Africa Health Research Institute in South Africa (AHRI). However, AHRI executive director Willem Hanekom said researchers believe the vaccine will still protect against severe illness and death.
