Actor Jussie Smollett took the stand on Monday in his own trial to defend himself on charges he lied to police about being the victim of a hate crime and allegedly paid two brothers to stage the attack. Smollett told jurors “there was no hoax,” denied paying the brothers to buy supplies and explained why he did not call police when the incident happened.
