German interim chancellor Angela Merkel and her successor Olaf Scholz announced new COVID-19 measures for the country that would see a focus on unvaccinated individuals, barring them from access to all but the most essential businesses such as grocery stores and pharmacies. Germany is also planning legislation to make vaccinations mandatory, Merkel said.
