WHO director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Wednesday called out countries’ that have imposed travel bans on South Africa and Botswana over fears about the Omicron COVID-19 variant, saying such bans punish countries for “doing the right thing.” He said blanket travel bans will not stop the spread of the virus.
