Health Canada senior medical advisor Dr. Supriya Sharma said on Friday that the benefits for children who receive the COVID-19 vaccine outweigh the risks, following approval of the Pfizer vaccine for children aged five to 11. Sharma added that she believes the risk of heart effects, like myocarditis, are likely lower in this age group than for older age groups.
