Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Dr. Rochelle Walensky delivered an update to the U.S. Senate on Thursday regarding the COVID-19 situation in the country. Walensky said since she last testified to the Senate committee for COVID-19 on July 20, the U.S. has “witnessed a steep increase” in COVID-19 cases and the rate of death isn’t slowing as quickly as desired due to the Delta variant of the novel coronavirus.
