Democrat Eric Adams won New York City’s mayoral race on Tuesday evening on promises to boost public safety and give a voice to working-class residents. Adams, a former New York City police captain, will become the city’s second Black mayor. He defeated Republican Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels civilian patrol.
