Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott called the death of a child under 10 in the Waterloo Region who died of COVID-19 a “tragic situation” and sent her condolences to the family on Friday. Health officials said the child’s death was not the result of any exposure in a school or daycare, and said the child had underlying health conditions.
