U.S. President Joe Biden confirmed on Thursday that he will travel to Louisiana on Friday, Sept. 3 to survey the damage from Hurricane Ida, which was the fifth most powerful storm to strike the U.S. when it tore through the state on Sunday with maximum winds of 150 mph (240 kph).
