U.S. President Joe Biden continued to defend his decision to withdraw militarily from Afghanistan, ending the 20-year U.S. war in the country, saying he takes ultimate responsibility for the decision to leave as Commander-in-Chief. Biden cited former president Donald Trump’s May 1st agreement, saying the deal gave him two choices, to either withdraw by Aug. 31 or add more troops and escalate the situation in the country. Biden says he chose the former.
