Grand Chief Garrison Settee of the Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak organization was asked during a campaign event on Aug. 26 alongside NDP leader Jagmeet Singh regarding his support for Liberal Indigenous candidate Shirley Robinson over NDP incumbent Niki Ashton in the Churchill–Keewatinook Aski race. He said he supports the Liberal candidate because he wants more Indigenous voices in Canada’s Parliament. Grand Chief Arlen Dumas reiterated the same position.
