Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau defended Liberal candidate Maryam Monsef on Wednesday after her controversial comment referring to the Taliban as “our brothers,” saying that Monsef had “expressed her views” and that his government recognizes the Taliban as a terrorist organization. Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole criticized the comments by the minister, saying “the language used by the Trudeau government is completely unacceptable.”
