NDP leader Jagmeet Singh announced on Wednesday his party’s plan to address Canada’s housing market crisis, saying people shouldn’t have to compete with “big money” companies when trying to buy a home. He said his strategy will impose a national foreign buyers tax of 20 per cent, and aim to build 500,000 affordable houses within 10 years.
