In the first official glimpse of what life in Canada could be like in the months to come, the Public Health Agency of Canada released potential scenarios where COVID-19 public health restrictions could be lifted. “One dose of a two dose vaccine is not enough to maximize protection, we need to aim for at least 75 per cent of everyone who is eligible for vaccination getting fully vaccinated. And we can’t go half way. So it is very important to get that second dose,” said Canada’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Theresa Tam on Friday. “Four weeks ago less than 25 per cent of adults had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and now we’re just over 50 per cent,” she added. In addition to requiring 75 per cent of the population to be fully vaccinated, another 20 per cent would need to have at least one vaccine dose.
