Transport Minister Omar Alghabra announced Tuesday how funding first announced for airports in the Fall Economic Statement would be distributed in an effort by the federal government. About $500 million will be dolled out to larger airports to help with critical infrastructure projects, such as runway repairs, with another approximately $65 million going to eligible airports based on revenue to help maintain operations. Another $186 million will top up Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program to help local and regional airports with safety-related projects.
