Fees waived for patios and sidewalk cafés in Saint John

Saint John’s business improvement agency is pleased with the decision to waive fees for patios and sidewalk cafés. Uptown Saint John had approached Common Council about waiving the fees last year, but the city’s impending $10-million deficit in 2020 prevented them from approving the change. As Tim Roszell reports, funding for the program will come from the city’s ENCORE program, which earmarks funds to help rejuvenate the local economy following the COVID-19 pandemic slowdown.
