The trial of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer charged in George Floyd’s death from last May, continued Wednesday with a forensic pathologist testifying for the defence saying Floyd died due to heart disease and potentially auto exhaust fumes that possibly caused carbon monoxide poisoning – not Chauvin’s knee on his neck. The testimony came the same day the officer accused in the shooting death of Daunte Wright was charged. Chauvin had his knee on Floyd’s neck as the 46-year-old Black man lay pinned to the pavement for allegedly nine-and-a-half minutes.
