On Wednesday, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham decried the decision of U.S. President Joe Biden to begin the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, starting on May 1. Graham asserted that maintaining a residual force of American and coalition forces in Afghanistan would be a prudent deterrence against the reemergence of al-Qaeda and would ensure the Taliban adheres to any negotiated agreement.
