Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer urged other U.S. senators on Tuesday to vote to pass the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act – legislation that would give the justice department “crucial tools to crack down on the wave of racist violence” seen against the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, Schumer said.
