NHL trade deadline: Toronto makes biggest moves of any Canadian team

The NHL’s trade deadline passed at 3 p.m. on Monday with some Canadian clubs loading up for a playoff run while others were looking ahead to their future. The Toronto Maple Leafs who were sitting in first place in the all-Canadian North Division, made several significant upgrades beginning late Sunday night by acquiring forward Nick Foligno and goalie David Rittich from the Calgary Flames. The Edmonton Oilers upgraded their blueline by adding defenceman Dmitri Kulikov while the Ottawa Senators, who were on the outside looking in at a playoff spot, added several future draft picks.
