Members of Asian communities say racist incidents in Canada have been haunting them for decades. But the virus may have added an additional layer of hurt, as more than one study shows that hate is on the rise. A March report from Toronto states there were more than 1,150 incidents during the first year of the pandemic-many of which involve Asians being spat on or physically attacked. Shaoling Wang is a board member with the Peterborough Chinese Association and a professor of Chinese Language and Culture at Trent University. She spoke with Global News Morning Peterborough about the situation.
