The White House and U.S. State Department each slammed the recent move by China’s parliament to approve a draft decision to change Hong Kong’s electoral system on Thursday, with State spokesman Ned Price calling it a “continuing assault on democratic institutions” and press secretary Jen Psaki saying it was an effort “to push back democracy.”
